Lowestoft prepare for challenge of 10 games in 35 days

"We are trying to make sure we can add the right players for the long term - not just a short term."
- Blues boss Andy Reynolds

Lowestoft Town are set to embark on a spell of 10 league games in the next 35 days as they prepare for a busy, crucial run of fixtures.

And Blues boss Andy Reynolds admitted that ahead of the hectic schedule they have been in talks with clubs "about the possibility of bringing players in" as they look to bolster the squad.

It comes as talismanic striker Jake Reed departed the club and joined Gorleston.

Having hit a remarkable 204 goals in 370 appearances for Lowestoft over three spells, since joining from Dagenham & Redbridge in October 2013, Reed's achievements, contributions and service over "an incredible" period were hailed as a club spokesman said: "He has been more than just a player - he has been a true servant of Lowestoft Town FC."

Blues boss Andy Reynolds said that conversations are "ongoing" with clubs as they look to strengthen.

He said: "We are trying to make sure we can add the right players for the long term - not just a short term - as we look to bring them in until the summer and beyond.

"We are also speaking to existing players about renewing deals as we want to show our intent going forwards - and hopefully we can move that on over the Christmas period as we look to give our supporters a nice festive present."

At half time last Saturday Lowestoft - who were leading 1-2 at Bedford Town through goals from Joe Duffy and Kyle Haylock - were three points off the play off positions in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central division.

But, two goals in the space of three second half minutes turned a game Reynolds said Lowestoft had "controlled" as Bedford triumphed 4-2.

This left them 15th in the league, before midweek results saw Lowestoft drop to 18th in the table.

The Trawlerboys return to the Fosters Solicitors Community Stadium tomorrow as they host ninth placed St Ives Town (3pm KO) before an all-Suffolk Boxing Day bonanza next Thursday - as Lowestoft make the short journey to 13th placed Leiston with an earlier 1pm kick off.
