Following the win, Reed said: "It's good to be home. I thought it would be a bit of a struggle coming back in front of my home crowd but as soon as I stepped onto the pitch, I felt relaxed and back to my normal self. It's awesome being back, the fans have always given me a lot of praise and support so it's good to get a goal and help give them three points as a thank you. The only bad thing was the injury, my ankle just went a bit warm and fuzzy and I have a big lump on my ankle so we'll have to see how it holds up. But, I wasn't coming off without a goal!"
After completing the signing of Reed, manager Jamie Godbold said: "I think Jake's arrival has boosted the entire club. The dressing room and supporters were both buoyed by his arrival and I just felt a different environment around the place. We knew Reedy was unhappy and it has been an ongoing negotiation for the past two or three weeks, he did have offers and he turned them down to come here. It was just a case over whether Leiston would accept our offer and thankfully they did and the deal got rushed through Friday night. I'm so happy it did, because he's the match-winner and then he got injured, so it left everyone else to defend his goal! But, I'm absolutely delighted to have him back and he feels he's back where he belongs."
