Gloucester City won 4-2 at Hyde on Saturday to make it two wins on the bounce but on Tuesday night they were brought back down to earth with a 3-1 defeat at Hednesford Town. Their recent home form looks good though and in their last five home matches they have registered three wins, a draw and just one defeat. In with the victories were impressive 2-0 wins against high flying Barrow and cup winning giants Worcester City. They have so far scored thirty-seven goals but have conceded forty-eight and sit six points behind Lowestoft in the table. Charlie Griffin is their leading scorer with nine goals but on 23rd January they added Sahr Kabba to the firepower from Conference Premier side Lincoln City and since signing he has scored three goals in two games, being widely touted as ‘pocket dynamo’ up front.
Lowestoft Town finally shook off the tag of not having won away from home in the league with a 3-2 win at Brackley Town on Saturday. The blues found themselves two down against the run of play but an impressive performance throughout the whole of the match was rewarded in a great fight back to take all three points. Their goals for and against columns exactly match those of Gloucester with the Trawlerboys having also scored thirty-seven and conceded forty-eight. Jack Ainsley is the leading scorer in the league on eight goals, seven of them from the spot. However, goals are now coming from the forward line with Reed having scored five goals in his last nine outings and the newly signed Danny Webb still finding his fitness but scoring a well taken brace on Saturday in just his second game for the blues.

Reverse Fixture:-
The two sides last met at the beginning of November at the Crown Meadow. For just over sixty minutes of the game it was a pretty uneventful and untidy game of football that really needed a goal to liven it up. Unfortunately for Lowestoft the goal came for the visitors following a slip at the back by Gleeson, allowing Modest to get in down the right and square for Groves to tuck the ball past the standing in Jessup in goal. The blues introduced Eagle and Louis from the bench, with both players making an immediate impact and a Stephens save being the only thing that stopped them from drawing level. However, with just under ten minutes remaining Billy Jones struck from a free-kick to double the visitors lead and this was followed by a third in the final few minutes to cap a miserable day and result for Lowestoft. The Man of the Match on that day for the blues was Lee Smith and with him recently returning to the side from injury, Lowestoft will be hoping he has an impact again.

Club History:-
GLOUCESTER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB
were founded in 1883; an excellent and in-depth write up on their history, accompanied by numerous pictures can be seen on their website via the following link http://www.gloucestercityafc.com/?page_id=72
In recent times; Gloucester City won promotion to the Football Conference from the Southern Premier League in their 2008/09 season and much like Lowestoft they were controversially placed in the Conference North. They went on to finish their first season in the Conference North in 18th place but followed this with improvement to finish in 14th place in 2010/11 and 2011/12, before improving again in 2012/13 to finish in 11th place. Last season saw Gloucester City finish in a precarious 17th place and this has been brought into the current season with them currently sitting in 21st place.
