Trawlerboys on the road for the first time in 2025

Lowestoft Town FC head out on their travels to Redditch for their first game of 2025.

The Trawlerboys - well rested after the scheduled New Year's Day home game was postponed - will make a 400-mile round trip to The Valley Stadium to face Redditch.

The home side start the day five points ahead of us having played two games more including a good draw on Wednesday at Stourbridge.

Today's trip for Lowestoft sees them start the new year with a busy run of games ahead.

After a hectic festive schedule, The Trawlerboys are now due to play six Southern League Premier Central Division games in the space of 21 days this month.

The January action was set to start on New Year's Day, as Lowestoft were scheduled to play AFC Sudbury in an all-Suffolk derby at the Foster's Solicitors Community Stadium.

With the surface having passed a Wednesday morning pitch inspection, a torrential downpour left puddles on the pitch and the game was subsequently called off after a further afternoon inspection, with the match to be rescheduled.

Being out of action, and combined with results elsewhere, it meant Lowestoft slipped to 20th place in the Southern League Premier Central division.

But with matches in hand on their rivals, The Trawlerboys are just three points behind 12th placed Harborough Town with two games in hand.

Last time out Andy Reynolds' young side showed plenty of resolve as they beat 10th placed Barwell at the Fosters Solicitors Community Stadium on Saturday, December 28.

Joao Rangel's 61st minute individual goal sealed an excellent victory.

After today's away trip, The Trawlerboys are due to host sixth placed Stamford at the Fosters Solicitors Community Stadium on Tuesday, January 7 (7.45pm).

A visit to bottom of the table Biggleswade Town follows on Saturday, January 11 ahead of another midweek home clash under the lights at Crown Meadow as 18th placed Alvechurch are the visitors on Tuesday, January 14 (7.45pm).

A home encounter with seventh placed Stourbridge is scheduled for Saturday, January 18 before a month of busy action concludes on Saturday, January 25 away at 13th placed Bishop's Stortford.

For today's trip to Redditch, Andy Reynolds men will be welcoming back Sam Johnson from his injury picked up away at Bedford and Rob Eagle is back in contention having missed Barwell at home last weekend due to a niggling hamstring.

It will be a few days too soon for Louis McIntosh (impact injury) but he is aiming for a return on Tuesday.

Captain, Travis Cole will still be absent (personal reasons), Ben Haddoch (illness) are the other absentees from recent squads.

Blues Squad: Aldous, Atkinson.B, Blair, Blogg, Duffy, Eagle, Haylock, Johnson, Murphy, Norman, Overton, Rangel, Ruffles, Sayer, Yeo
